Life through Lockdown

None of us can deny that the lockdown has put us to the test and still does. Very few people know that this is not only our impression, but has also been scientifically proven.

We were isolated for weeks – only saw colleagues and closest relatives/partners. What a strong impact this has on our wellbeing is terrifying.

If we spend too long in loneliness, it literally makes us ill

How important the exchange with other individuals is, can be seen for example, in the increasing use of social media. We share our meals, our daily lives and our successes. Why? Many interpret influencers in particular as attention-seeking. The reason people share, however, is because of their natural urge to socialize. That this is differently pronounced is absolutely natural, just as every character trait is differently pronounced in people.

Social Exchange Theory

How important the exchange with other individuals is can be seen, for example, in the increasing use of social media. We share our meals, our daily lives and our successes – but why?

Many interpret influencers in particular as attention-seeking. The reason people share, however, is because of their natural urge to socialize.

That this varies in strength is absolutely natural, as well as every character trait varies in strength in people.

There is even research showing that a lack of social interactions is twice as bad as obesity. Social exclusion such as bullying also causes pain in the brain.

Self-care is now more important than ever

It should therefore be the top priority to take care of yourself and your well-being. Call your best friends, meet for a walk, talk to the people on the subway. Exchange your thoughts, your worries, fears and desires and least but not last, adapt to the situation – and soon we will be sitting in groups by the lake again and laughing at these times 🥳
